Shelby x Naveesha Ghedia
I'm Naveesha, a creative who loves writing in all forms whether its blogs, articles, stories or poems. I enjoy 'deep dives' into themes surrounding identity but also happy to write about things I enjoy such as video games, Netflix and other forms of entertainment. My love of writing started when I was about ten years old writing fantasy stories. I studied English Literature at University which allowed me to analyse literature and my passion for writing continued as I began to blog and write articles.
Q1. We love what you created for this month’s issue of the zine. Could you share a little overview of this and talk us through your process?
As the theme was cannabis, I wanted to write something informative and eye opening for my audience. I decided to write about the history of cannabis because I feel like its a topic that most people aren't familiar with. Cannabis has been legal for centuries and it was compelling to see how many different cultures were involved with the plant. I did lots of research and looked at a variety of sources for information.
Q2. What attracted you to submit artwork for our 4 :20 issue of the digital magazine?
I got to write about a super interesting topic and wanted to use my words to engage with my audience.
Q3. What led you to start your blog perksofbeingaprocrastinator.com?
I've always loved writing and I needed an outlet - that's where my blog was born. I used to look at it like an online diary especially during the Tumblr era. But then I used it to showcase my writing skills and interact with other bloggers.
Q4. What are some of the key themes that your writing focuses on?
I like writing about anything and everything! Travel, mental health, memes, humour, identity and life experiences. Anything interesting really. I also like delving into topics that aren't always touched upon in mainstream media.
Q5. You mentioned that you use writing as a creative outlet. Could you tell us a little more about that?
Writing is my craft but its also so much more than that. It's therapeutic. I love forming words and using language to engage with people. Some people are artists, some are musicians and some are writers. It's a hobby that has stuck with me since childhood.
Q6. If you could collaborate with anyone (dead or alive), who would it be?
Bret Easton Ellis - I've always wanted to meet the brains behind American Psycho.
Q6. If you could collaborate with anyone (dead or alive), who would it be?
Cassils, I would do anything to work with them.
